He worked closely with its four founders\, Robert Noyce\, Gordon Moore\, Andy Grove and Les Vadasz. At Intel he built a team of 150 professionals around the world advancing the company’s business diplomacy. \nFrom 1976 to 1983 he was a Government Affairs Manager at Caterpillar\, Inc. in Illinois\, California\, and Washington DC. His initial job at CAT was as a machine shop foreman in their tractor factory in his hometown of Peoria\, Illinois. \nToday he is a Distinguished Fellow on American Federalism at Save Our States\, an organization dedicated to defending the Founders’ Federalism and the Constitution’s Electoral College. He is also the Founder of the Center For the Electoral College. In 2020 he was elected by his party to be a Virginia Presidential Elector. \nMichael is a Trustee of the James Wilson Institute\, the Witherspoon Institute\, the Institute of World Politics\, and several other non-profit Boards. \nMr. Maibach has earned seven university degrees. While earning his first degree\, he was elected to the DeKalb County Board in Illinois\, becoming the first person elected to public office under 21 years of age in American history. In 1992 he was a candidate for the US Congress in California’s Silicon Valley. The voters demanded he remain in private industry! \nMichael is a native of Peoria\, Illinois. He was a student activist in the 1960s\, Minnesota’s chief prosecutor and Solicitor General in the 1970s and 1980s\, and Mayor of St. Paul in the 1990s. He represented Minnesota in the U.S. Senate from 2003-2009. How Do We Survive? \nFor Registration – Click Here\nBio – James Jay Carafano \nJames Jay Carafano is a leading expert in national security and foreign policy challenges\, an accomplished historian and teacher\, as well as a prolific writer and researcher. He currently serves as The Heritage Foundation’s Vice President\, Foreign and Defense Policy Studies\, assuming responsibility for Heritage’s entire defense and foreign policy team; the E. W. Richardson Fellow; and the Director of the Kathryn and Shelby Cullom Davis Institute for International Studies. \nCarafano is a graduate of the US Military Academy at West Point and served 25 years in the US Army\, retiring as a Lt. Colonel. He served in Europe\, Korea and the United States. His assignments included head speechwriter for the Army Chief of Staff\, the service’s highest-ranking officer. Before retiring\, Carafano was executive editor of Joint Force Quarterly\, the Defense Department’s premiere professional military journal. \nFrom 2012 to 2014\, he served on the Homeland Security Advisory Council convened by the secretary of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. He formerly was a senior fellow at George Washington University’s Homeland Security Policy Institute. He also previously served on the congressionally-mandated Advisory Panel on Department of Defense Capabilities for Support of Civil Authorities\, the National Academy’s Board on Army Science and Technology\, and the Department of the Army Historical Advisory Committee. \nCarafano holds a master’s degree and a doctorate from Georgetown University as well as a master’s degree in strategy from the U.S. Army War College. His recent research has focused on developing the national security required to secure the long-term interests of the United States — protecting the public\, providing for economic growth\, and preserving civil liberties.
