Colonel (Ret.) Martin “Marty” Spann

Colonel (Ret.) Martin “Marty” Spann is a retired military officer with more than 36 years of service.
He began his career in the United States Marine Corps and later became an Infantry Officer in the U.S. Army National Guard after graduating from U.S. Army Officer Candidate School. He commanded units from squad to battalion level.
He served during Operation Iraqi Freedom working with Iraqi Special Police Commandos and later as Military Liaison to the Iraqi Minister of the Interior. He also served in Afghanistan as senior military advisor to the Afghan National Civil Order Police with the NATO Training Mission–Afghanistan.
In addition to his military service, he completed 26 years with the Los Angeles Police Department.
His awards include three Legions of Merit, the Soldier’s Medal for heroism, the Bronze Star Medal with Combat “V” (Valor) Device, the Purple Heart Medal, and the Master Combat Infantryman Badge.
In 2010 he was inducted into the U.S. Army Officer Candidate School Hall of Fame at Fort Benning, Georgia.
