On Tuesday, October 20, we are excited to welcome Erika Donalds to Tiburón Golf Club for what we expect to be another packed Conservative Cocktails.

Erika is the wife of Byron Donalds, the Republican nominee for Governor of Florida, and has said publicly that she would continue advocating for parent-directed education if she becomes First Lady.

But Erika brings an extensive education record of her own—and that will be the focus of this special evening.

DEFUNDING THE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION
One year after President Trump signed an executive order directing the dismantling of the U.S. Department of Education, what progress has been made in returning educational authority to states, local communities, and families?

Erika Donalds will examine the current state of reform efforts, including developments in educational freedom, local control, and parental involvement. She will also discuss what additional action she believes is needed from the Executive Branch and Congress.

Following Erika’s remarks, Leigh Vlasblom, Director of the Leadership Institute’s School Board Leaders Program, will discuss the organization’s efforts to recruit, elect, and train school board members across the country.
