Meet the founder of Advancing American Freedom, Michael R. Pence. Mike was born in Columbus, Indiana on June 7, 1959. He is one of six children born to Edward and Nancy Pence.
As a young boy, he had a front-row seat to the “American Dream.” His grandfather immigrated to the United States at the age of 17, settling in a small town in Indiana and instilled in young Mike the importance of hard work, faith and family.
Mike received his Bachelor’s Degree in history in 1981 from Hanover College. Following his undergraduate studies, he continued studies in law at Indiana University. While in law school he met the love of his life, Karen. They married and had three children.
Early in his career, Mike led the Indiana Policy Review Foundation and also communicated his conservative political philosophy on radio and tv with The Mike Pence Show.
In 2000 he became a Representative to the U.S. Congress at 40. He was elected and reelected six times by the people of East-Central Indiana.
In 2013 Mike became the 50th Governor of Indiana. He guided the state with a strong belief in the U.S. Constitution, limited government, fiscal responsibility, economic development and educational responsibility.
Because of his successful career in Indiana and his strong faith-based policies, he was selected by Donald Trump as a running mate in 2016 and together they forged a successful campaign for the White House.
Mike is affiliated with The Young America’s Foundation as Ronald Reagan Presidential Scholar. Most recently, he founded Advancing American Freedom which promotes and defends the successful policies of recent years which yielded unprecedented strength abroad and prosperity at home, elevating our traditional American values.
