Record Turnout to Hear Trump Speak at Sarasota County Fairgrounds |
![]() The President delivered on the themes of freedom, patriotism, and taking pride in being an American. It truly is a privilege. Attending leaders included Congressmen Byron Donalds, Greg Steube, Vern Buchanan, Mike Waltz, and other elected officials, including RPOF Chairman Joe Gruters and Vice-Chairman Christian Ziegler. Although Governor Ron DeSantis was originally scheduled to speak, he called President Trump to let him know that he regretted not being able to attend due to the Surfside tragedy and what was at the time Hurricane Elsa which was threatening Florida. President Trump agreed with Governor DeSantis’ decision and asked the crowd to join him in a moment of silence to remember the victims of the Surfside tragedy. We remain the United States of America
While the Left endeavors to divide this state and country at every turn, seeking to paint America as a hopelessly divided nation, the horrific tragedy at Surfside shows that is just not true.
The unity we have seen among every race, gender and creed in the greater Miami area after this horrific event is a symbol of the best of America. From first responders to the health care community to local charities to churches to neighbors, there has been unity in response to this calamity.
This is an important message to Floridians and all Americans as we celebrate the birth of our nation 245 years ago. We are still the United States of America. And we will always fight to remain so.
In that spirit of unity, Governor DeSantis announced Wednesday that federal, state, local, private sector and nonprofit partners have come together to create SurfsideStrength.com, an emotional support and assistance platform for survivors, families, first responders and others impacted by the tragedy in Surfside to receive much-needed support to persevere.
There are currently more than 440 first responders and state workers on-site to support ongoing search and recovery efforts. As part of this year’s Fourth of July celebration, former President Donald Trump will be holding a Save America rally in Sarasota July 3. The event will be held at Robarts Arena, 3000 Ringling Boulevard, Sarasota. Doors open at 2 p.m. The first speakers will begin at 5 p.m. and President Trump will speak at primetime 8 p.m. Immediately following his speech will be fireworks at the Fairgrounds, where Robarts Arena is located.
Join us to celebrate America’s birthday with President Trump by clicking here: https://secure.anedot.com/florida-gop/sarasotarallyvip
The RPOF encourages those who are attending the rally to generously contribute to the victims of the tragedy at Surfside.
Most of the new laws that passed the Legislature this year and were signed into law go into effect today. Here are some of the highlights of what the Republican-led Legislature accomplished for Florida this year.
The state budget, which includes money for Everglades restoration and the effects of sea-level rise; raises the minimum pay of state workers to $13 an hour; provides bonuses to first responders; and adds $50 million to raise teacher salaries.
Big Tech crackdown. A new law bans social media companies from removing political candidates from the companies’ platforms. Companies that violate the prohibition could be fined $250,000 a day for statewide candidates and $25,000 a day for other candidates. (A judge has issued a temporary injunction on parts of this law.)
School vouchers will be expanded. Building on one of the strongest voucher programs in the nation, the new law increases the family income threshold for children to qualify for vouchers — allowing more families to qualify, and removes a requirement that students had to previously be enrolled in public schools.
Moment of silence. This new law will require public schools to hold moments of silence each day. Teachers are prohibited from suggesting any particular purpose but are to encourage parents to discuss this with their children.
Civic education. This new law requires high-school U.S. government courses to include “a comparative discussion of political ideologies that conflict with the principles of freedom and democracy.” It also requires public schools to create civics-education curriculum to develop “an upright citizenry.”
Intellectual freedom in colleges. This law requires colleges and universities to conduct surveys to assess the “intellectual freedom and viewpoint diversity” at their institutions.
Protecting women’s sports. This new law bans transgender females (biological men) from participating on girls’ and women’s high-school and college sports teams. It is designed to protect the women and provide equal opportunities for them.
Online taxes will finally be collected. Requiring out-of-state online retailers to collect sales taxes on purchases made by Floridians the same way that in-state retailers must is an issue of fairness. The estimated $1 billion a year in additional revenue will be used to replenish the state’s unemployment trust fund drained due to Covid, and then go toward reducing the commercial rent tax.

The condition of Florida’s child welfare system is about to improve as Governor DeSantis has signed two bills that will help children find permanent homes more quickly. These bills were a priority for Senate President Wilton Simpson, who was adopted as a child at the age of 6.
“Governor DeSantis has been a strong partner as we work to improve Florida’s Child Welfare System, and I appreciate him signing this key legislation into law,” Simpson said. “We know the earlier in life we can give a child a permanent living situation, the better off that child will be in the long run. Government is a horrible parent, and childhood is way too short for any kid to spend years waiting in limbo bouncing from home to home.”
Senate Bill 80, sponsored by Sen. Jason Brodeur, who was also adopted as a child, prioritizes finding children a permanent place to call home, particularly before they turn 18. The second bill, SB 96, will improve reporting standards in the case of abuse and neglect.

I spent this week in Washington, D.C., advocating for the values of the people of Southwest Florida, as the U.S. House of Representatives remained in session. Erika and I continue to pray for all the families impacted by the devastating building collapse in Surfside and all those working tirelessly in the rescue mission. I also commend the bipartisan efforts coming from Local, State, and Federal agencies. Through great tragedy, Americans know how to put politics aside and come together to help those in need, and we should all be grateful for that.
This week we saw former President Trump visit the Rio Grande Valley and witness firsthand the crisis on the Southern Border as a result of the Biden-Harris Administration unfolding the Trump-era immigration policies that kept our country safe. Securing our border should not be political. The men and women of ICE and CBP do not represent a political party; they represent the rule of law and security for every American. These brave men and women need leadership out of Washington that recognizes the need to finish the wall, enforce immigration law, and adequately fund border security agencies.
Secondly, the Democrat party and Biden Administration proved once again they are the party of hypocrisy as Press Secretary Jen Psaki dared to claim that Republicans are to blame on the issue of defunding the police. Rising crime in our nation is entirely at the hands of liberal lawmakers who have neglected our law enforcement officers and seen the dangerous consequences of defunding the police. It is time they take responsibility for their failed policies and take action to ensure our cities remain safe for all Americans.
Lastly, the House of Representatives voted to create a January 6th Commission that is entirely entended further to politize the atrocity of this dark day in history. As a House Oversight and Reform Committee member, I sit on one of the two committees with proper jurisdiction for investigating the events that unfolded. Unfortunately, Democrats have blocked vital witnesses like the U.S. Capitol Police from testifying in front of the Committee and gain the necessary information needed. This Commission is nothing more than a distraction from the abysmal policies the Democrats are pushing.

I spent last week in Washington, D.C., advocating for the values of the people of Southwest Florida, as the U.S. House of Representatives remained in session.
Last week, Vice President Harris finally visited the border after over 90 days of ignoring it. Since entering Congress, I have seen the border twice, both in El Paso and Rio Grande Valley (RGV). On both trips, I saw first-hand the ongoing crisis this Administration has created. Leaders on the ground expressed the importance of a border wall, added personnel, more sophisticated technology, and enforcement of immigration laws. Anyone paying attention to the border crisis knows that although El Paso faces its issues regarding immigration, the RGV is the epicenter. It is clear the Vice President hasn’t been paying attention to this fact, and her visit to El Paso and not the RGV highlights the VP’s misguided approach in handling this crisis. It is a shame that it took President Trump to announce a visit to the border for our VP to take action. President Biden continues to use rising crime as a vehicle to implement radical gun control. Defunding police departments and decreasing the number of police officers on the street is the root cause of increased crime. Liberal elected officials defund the police and then refuse to stand and support law and order while their cities burn to the ground. I will continue to be a vocal supporter of our brave law enforcement heroes and the 2nd Amendment. Gun control doesn’t impact criminals; it harms law-abiding citizens. Please continue reading for a legislative update, events within the Southwest Florida community, and the most up-to-date guide on what’s happening on Capitol Hill! |

Winning the fight for American civic education against totalitarianism
Governor DeSantis signed three bills into law that will strengthen civics education from kindergarten to colleges in Florida and require Florida colleges and universities to conduct an annual assessment of viewpoint diversity.
“The sad reality is that only two in five Americans can correctly name the three branches of government, and more than a third of Americans cannot name any of the rights guaranteed by the First Amendment,” Governor DeSantis said in signing the legislation. “It is abundantly clear that we need to do a much better job of educating our students in civics to prepare them for the rest of their lives.”
The legislation requires the Florida Department of Education to create an integrated K-12 civic education curriculum that includes an understanding of citizens’ shared rights and responsibilities under the Constitution and Bill of Rights. It further expands required instruction in high school to include a comparative discussion of political ideologies such as communism and totalitarianism that conflict with the principles of freedom and democracy essential to the founding principles of the United States.
“As a daughter and granddaughter of Cuban refugees, my family knows firsthand the dangers of Communism and the fatal consequences of totalitarian regimes,” said Senator Ana Maria Rodriguez. “May this bill serve as a tool to assure history doesn’t repeat itself in our great nation.”
The legislation also requires Florida colleges and universities to conduct annual assessments of the viewpoint diversity and intellectual freedom at their institutions to ensure that Florida’s postsecondary students will be shown diverse ideas and opinions, including those that they may disagree with or find uncomfortable.

Florida 9th and 11th grade students will soon be learning basic training in first aid, including CPR, which when started immediately, can triple a person’s chance of surviving cardiac arrest.
Governor DeSantis this week signed HB 157, a bill passed with unanimous votes in the House and Senate. Under the new law, school districts will be required to provide one hour of “basic training in first aid, including cardiopulmonary resuscitation,” to all students in 9th and 11th grades. School districts also will be “encouraged” to begin giving basic first-aid and CPR training to students in 6th and 8th grades.

Governor DeSantis joined members of Florida’s law enforcement community and the Florida Legislature to support law enforcement canines injured in the line of duty by signing Senate Bill 388.
“Law enforcement K-9s are often the first to put their lives on the line as they work to apprehend dangerous or armed suspects in high-intensity situations,” the Governor said.
When a law enforcement canine is injured while safeguarding our communities, this bill authorizes emergency service vehicles to transport police canines to a veterinary clinic to ensure they receive prompt care if there are no individuals requiring medical attention or transport at that time.
The federal district court in Tampa delivered a major victory for freedom and Governor DeSantis against the CDC’s obstructionist No Sail Orders that have flatlined Florida’s cruise industry for more than a year.
Ruling in favor of Florida’s Motion for Preliminary Injunction, Judge Stephen Merryday concluded the CDC’s restrictions are likely unconstitutional and overstepping their legal authority. The cruise industry will soon be permitted to set sail again thanks to the lawsuit brought by Governor DeSantis and Attorney General Ashley Moody.
The state fought on behalf of the Florida cruise industry to secure the ability to resume operations without overly burdensome requirements that discriminate against children, leave most of the ships sitting in port, and disregard the freedom of Floridians to make decisions for their families.
Beginning July 18, the CDC’s orders will become mere “guidance,” and cruise ships will hit the open waters once again free from the CDC. As Florida continues to thrive while open for business, the return of the cruise industry marks an important milestone in the fight for freedom.
“The CDC has been wrong all along, and they knew it,” Governor DeSantis said. “The CDC and the Biden Administration concocted a plan to sink the cruise industry, hiding behind bureaucratic delay and lawsuits. Today, we are securing this victory for Florida families, for the cruise industry, and for every state that wants to preserve its rights in the face of unprecedented federal overreach.”
RNC statement by Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel in honor of Juneteenth:
“Today, we join all Americans in celebrating Juneteenth, a joyful and momentous day commemorating the end of slavery in our country.
“Although Abraham Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation more than two years earlier, it wasn’t until this day in 1865 that Union General Gordon Granger was able to get to Galveston, Texas to let those remaining enslaved Americans know the Civil War was over and all slaves were free.
“The Republican Party will always be proudly connected to Juneteenth because of President Lincoln’s leadership and we enthusiastically welcome its adoption as our newest national holiday after President Trump called for it last year. Mindful of the special importance Juneteenth has for Black Americans, it should also be a source of pride for Republicans and every American. The RNC will continue our efforts to expand engagement with the Black community because our party remains the party of freedom and opportunity.
“On Juneteenth we vow to never forget the evils of slavery while we continue the work of perfecting our Union. Our new federal holiday is a reminder of what we can achieve when we appeal to our nation’s highest ideals and come together as Americans.”

Sen. Rick Scott: I’ll Continue to Hold the Biden Administration Accountable on the Border
Senator Rick Scott released the below statement following reports that Vice President Harris will finally visit the United States southern border. For months, Senator Scott has been calling for President Biden and Vice President Harris to visit the border and see firsthand the national security and humanitarian crisis that their failed open borders and amnesty policies have created. Senator Scott will maintain his holds on President Biden’s nominees to fill political positions at the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) until Vice President Harris arrives at the border. Senator Rick Scott said, “More than 90 days after being named as the Biden administration’s lead to handle the massive border crisis it has created, it looks like Vice President Harris is finally going to make the trip. I hope that this actually happens, and doesn’t fall flat like its other promises to not raise taxes on American families, or reopen schools quickly, or be tough on Communist China. Last month, I said that I would hold all DHS political nominees until the White House got down to the border. I’m glad that I finally got their attention and some accountability for the American people. I’ll never stop fighting for border security and will continue to do everything in my power to hold this administration accountable for its border crisis.” Read more HERE. — Senator Rick Scott was joined by Senator Lee on the Senate floor to speak about the Stop Mandating Additional Requirements for Travel (SMART) Act, and ask for its passage by unanimous consent. The SMART Act would prohibit the federal government from requiring Americans to wear masks on public transportation. Senate Democrats blocked its passage. Representative Dan Crenshaw (R-TX) is introducing companion legislation in the U.S. House of Representatives. Senator Rick Scott said, “While we choose to listen to the science, all the Democrats care about is following their political science. The CDC itself has been clear mask mandates aren’t needed. So, why is the CDC singling out airlines and public transportation? It doesn’t make sense. Just like the federal government should not be in the business of requiring Americans to turn over their vaccination records, the federal government should not be mandating citizens wear masks on public transportation. Americans should be free to make choices they feel are in the best interest of their own health and the health of their loved ones. We have to listen to the science and work together to move America forward.” See more in the video HERE or below. — Sen. Rick Scott Meets with Venezuelan Delegation of the Interim President Juan Guaido Senator Rick Scott held a meeting with the members of the interim government of Venezuela, represented by Ambassador Carlos Vecchio, opposition leader Leopoldo López, Congresswoman Nora Bracho and Congressman Luis Emilio Rondón Hernández to discuss the urgent need for a democratic and peaceful transition of power in Venezuela. Senator Rick Scott said, “Nicolas Maduro is a dictator that is committing genocide in Venezuela. The only thing we have to negotiate with Maduro and his thugs is when and how they are stepping down from power. Today, I met with the Venezuelan Delegation of interim President Juan Guaidó to discuss a path forward away from Maduro’s dictatorship and achieve a democratic and peaceful transition of power. We can never let up in the fight for freedom and democracy in Venezuela and we cannot go back to the Obama-Biden appeasement policies, that only empower the dictatorship. All of my efforts will continue to focus on ending Maduro’s regime, protecting human rights and helping the Venezuelan people achieve freedom and democracy.” Read more HERE. Rick Scott on VP Harris Border Visit: It’s About Time She Does Her Job Senator Rick Scott spoke on the Senate floor outlining his expectations for Vice President Harris ahead of her planned visit to the United States southern border. Senator Scott will maintain his holds on President Biden’s nominees to fill political positions at the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) until Vice President Harris arrives at the border. Senator Rick Scott said, “It’s about time that Vice President Harris does her job. It’s embarrassing how long the Vice President avoided the crisis she and Biden created. Now, she needs to see the crisis she’s helped create firsthand. She needs to meet with our CBP and ICE agents, and the local law enforcement officers who are working every day to keep us safe. She needs to meet with families who have been the victims of trafficking and hears the horrific stories they have and what they’ve been through because of this crisis. She needs to talk with families who have tragically lost loved ones from the massive amounts of fentanyl that the cartels are moving across our border. The American people deserve better than just another political stunt. I’ll never stop fighting for border security and will continue to do everything in my power to hold this administration accountable for its border crisis.” See more in the video HERE or below. — Sen. Rick Scott: Congress Must Pass the Keep China Out of Solar Energy Act Senator Rick Scott released the below statement following news of a decision by the Biden administration to place new restrictions on Chinese companies guilty of using Uyghur forced labor in their manufacturing process of raw materials used for solar panels. In March, Senator Scott led his colleagues in introducing the Keep China Out of Solar Energy Act, which would prohibit federal funds from being used to buy solar panels manufactured or assembled in Communist China, specifically the Xinjiang province, which is known for its use of forced labor Senator Rick Scott said, “I am glad to see action by the Biden administration recognizing the connection between Communist China’s solar panel production and the genocide it is committing in Xinjiang. No company using Uyghur forced labor in its supply chains should be allowed to sell its products in the United States, and while this action is welcomed, we must go further. Congress must immediately pass my Keep China Out of Solar Energy Act and I urge President Biden and his administration to put their full support behind this legislation. Washington must work to make sure no taxpayer dollars are used to prop up the Communist Party of China and its horrific human rights abuses.” Read more HERE. — Sen. Rick Scott: Companies Can’t Stay Quiet on Human Rights Abuses in Communist China Senator Rick Scott released the below statement following the news that several clothing manufacturers altered or removed statements on their websites critical of Communist China’s forced labor in Xinjiang over fears of backlash. In March, Senator Scott praised companies, including H&M, for standing up to Communist China’s genocide of Uyghur Muslims. Senator Scott also sponsored the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act to ensure that goods made with Uyghur forced labor in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region do not enter the United States. Senator Rick Scott said, “General Secretary Xi is a thug who intimidates companies into silence over his genocide in Xinjiang and his takeover of Hong Kong. More retailers must take a stand for human rights, even in the face of criticism from Communist China. More retailers should be willing to follow the example of companies like H&M, that did the right thing by publicly expressing concern over forced labor and auditing their supply chains to ensure they are not complicit in this genocide and torture of Uyghurs. In the face of such great atrocities, there is no room for ambiguity. I encourage every American to signal their opposition to this genocide, stop buying products made in Communist China and support companies that stand up for human rights.” Read more HERE. — Sen. Rick Scott: Biden’s Iran Appeasement Threatens American Security Senator Rick Scott released the following statement calling on President Biden to refuse to re-join the disastrous Iran deal. Senator Scott’s statement follows months of urging President Biden to walk away from this failed deal and after Iran’s new president-elect said he will not meet with President Biden or negotiate over Tehran’s ballistic missile program and its support of regional militias. Iran’s president-elect, Ebrahim Raisi, was sanctioned by the Trump Administration for human rights abuses while running a judicial system in Iran that remains one of the world’s top executioners. Earlier this year, Senator Scott led his colleagues in the Senate in a resolution expressing opposition to the Iran nuclear deal, or Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, and urging President Biden to work with Congress and refuse to re-join the deal without significant reform. Senator Rick Scott said, “Dangerous regimes around the world are taking advantage of President Biden’s appeasement tactics. Iran is our adversary and cannot be trusted. Now, Iran’s president-elect, who is known for mass executions, is trying to take advantage of Biden’s weaknesses. We can’t allow it. With the change of leadership in Iran, President Biden needs to make it clear that the United States will not ease sanctions and will ensure consequences for their continued support of terrorists that threaten our great ally Israel. It’s about time Biden walks away from his feeble attempts to re-enter the failed Iran deal and puts the interest of our national security and our allies like Israel over appeasement.” Read more HERE. — Senators Rick Scott, Roger Wicker, Tom Cotton and John Cornyn introduced a resolution condemning President Biden’s inadequate defense spending proposal and urging the administration to work with Congress to ensure that the U.S. military has every resource needed to protect national security and our allies from increased threats around the world. U.S. military readiness was diminished by budget cuts and the sequester under President Obama. Now, President Biden’s proposed budget request includes a mere 1.7% increase in defense spending – which doesn’t even keep up with inflation, let alone provide for the nation’s defense. Senator Rick Scott said, “Florida has 20 military bases and three unified commands, more than almost any other state. We know how important our military readiness is to our national security. President Biden’s weak and inadequate defense spending proposal is dangerous and weakens our standing on the global stage, especially as our greatest adversary, Communist China, has increased its defense spending more than seven-fold over the last decade. We will not stand by and let our military might be diminished. As a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, I will always fight for our men and women in uniform, and I’m proud to stand with my colleagues today to do everything possible to protect and serve the families of our nation.” Read more HERE. — Senators Rick Scott and Marco Rubio Join Florida House Delegation to Reintroduce Bipartisan VA Bill Senators Rick Scott and Marco Rubio reintroduced legislation to name the new Clay County Veterans Affairs Clinic, in Middleburg, FL, the “Andrew K. Baker Department of Veterans Affairs Clinic.” Representative Kat Cammack, along with the entire Florida delegation, reintroduced companion legislation in the U.S. House of Representatives. Senators Scott and Rubio first introduced this bill in September 2020. U.S. Navy Chief Petty Officer Andrew Kenneth Baker served our country bravely for seventeen years before losing his life in a helicopter crash on March 13, 1997 while trying to land on a Naval frigate during a training event. Senator Rick Scott said, “I’m proud to join my colleagues in this legislation to honor the legacy of a local hero, U.S. Navy Chief Petty Officer Andrew Kenneth Baker, by naming the Clay County Veterans Affairs Clinic, in Middleburg, FL, the ‘Andrew K. Baker Department of Veterans Affairs Clinic.’ Chief Baker served as a search and rescue swimmer, helping train hundreds of service members before his passing in a tragic training accident. This designation will pay tribute to his incredible service.” Read more from Senator Rubio’s office HERE. |

Economist, The Everglades Foundation
Florida is home to more than 21 million people and has an economy that produces over $1 trillion in economic output annually. With over 1,300 miles of coastline, numerous rivers and lakes, and the vast Everglades ecosystem, water plays an essential role in Florida’s economy and the quality of life of its growing population. While sustainably managing the state’s water resources is crucial for our daily activities, for example, the Everglades ecosystem alone provides the drinking water for nearly 9 million Floridians. It is also essential to critical sectors of Florida’s economy, such as real estate, tourism, and fishing.
Tourism and Recreation
According to Visit Florida, over 130 million out-of-state visitors came to Florida in 2019. A study by Rockport Analytics indicates that in 2018, out-of-state visitors contributed more than $91 billion to the state’s economy and supported over 1.5 million jobs via tourists spending money on hotels, restaurants, and other goods and services. Detailed surveys of these visitors by Visit Florida indicate that many of them are drawn to the state to participate in water-based activities like going to the beach, recreational fishing, and boating, making protecting water quality important for maintaining this critical part of the state’s economy.
According to the National Marine Manufacturers Association, recreational boating contributes more than $23 billion annually in Florida and supports over 92,000 jobs.
Recent estimates indicate that Florida anglers (both saltwater and freshwater) contribute more than $11.5 billion annually to the state’s economy while supporting over 100,000 jobs. In just the Everglades region, anglers contribute more than $1.2 billion to the economy with Florida Bay alone contributing more $439 million.
Real Estate
Real estate is another sector critical to Florida’s economy. According to the National Association of Realtors, the real estate industry accounted for about 22% of Florida’s economy in 2019. Just as water plays a substantial role in the tourism and recreational industries, it also plays a substantial role in real estate. For instance, a detailed study by the Florida Realtors Association estimated that water quality degradation due to a 2013 algae bloom in the St. Lucie Estuary, Loxahatchee Estuary, and the part of the Indian River Lagoon north of the
St. Lucie Inlet reduced residential real estate values in Martin County by $488 million. Estimates by Mather Economics indicate that Everglades restoration could increase residential real estate values by around $16 billion over a 50-year time horizon in South Florida alone.
Conclusion
It’s important to note that the studies above provide just a glimpse of the role of water in the state’s economy. Clean water is important for many other sectors of Florida’s economy. For instance, commercial fishing and seafood industries support over 76,000 jobs and contribute over $16 billion to the state’s economy. It’s clear that sustainably managing the state’s vast water resources is necessary to provide economic opportunity, jobs, and a high quality of life to present and future generations of Floridians.
Governor DeSantis signed the state budget for fiscal year 2021-2022. The budget totaled $101.5 billion and includes $169 million in tax relief. The Governor vetoed $1.5 billion in total spending, including $1.35 billion from federal funds received under the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021.
“While other states advocated for never-ending lockdowns during the pandemic, Florida followed the science and led the nation in ensuring there were opportunities for Florida families to go to school, go to work, and provide for themselves and their families,” Governor DeSantis said.
The Florida Leads budget exemplifies Florida’s continued resolve and powerful economic foundation. It establishes Florida’s position as a nationwide leader in education, protecting the environment, creating a resilient economy, and ensuring public safety. And it accomplishes all of this while maintaining strong fiscal reserves and lowering taxes to make sure Florida families benefit this year and for decades to come.
This was done through the close work and cooperation of the Governor, Senate President Wilton Simpson and House Speaker Chris Sprowls.

Republican leaders and Governor DeSantis are protecting women and girls from being unfairly and dangerously forced to compete against biological boys in sporting events. Governor DeSantis signed SB 1028 creating the “Fairness in Women’s Sports Act,” preserving fair opportunities for female athletes to demonstrate their skills in athletic competition.
Any athletic team or sport that is designated for females may not be open to students of the male sex, based on the student’s biological sex listed on the student’s official birth certificate. The law applies the requirements to interscholastic, intercollegiate, intramural, or club athletic teams or sports that are sponsored by public schools, colleges, or universities.
This is a popular law. Multiple polls have shown that 60 to 70 percent of Americans believe that biological males should not be participating in women’s sports.
“As a father of two daughters, I want my girls, and every girl in Florida, to compete on an even playing field for the opportunities available to young women in sports,” Governor DeSantis said. “Women have fought for decades to have equal opportunities in athletics, and we have to prevent those opportunities from being eroded as is happening in other states. It’s common sense. Many thanks to Senator Stargel and Representative Tuck for their thoughtful work on this bill to ensure fairness in women’s sports.”
Cheaper prescription drugs may be on the way to Floridians struggling with ever-increasing health care costs.
At the direction of Governor DeSantis, the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration filed an Amicus brief in support of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ final rule implementing Section 804 of the Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act, to facilitate the importation of prescription drugs, based in part off Florida’s 2019 importation concept paper.
In 2019, at President Donald Trump’s direction, HHS was tasked to work diligently with Florida to fully implement provisions of the 2003 Medicare Prescription Drug, Improvement, and Modernization Act related to the importation of Canadian prescription drugs.
“Today’s filing reinforces Florida’s position — that the lawsuit is another desperate attempt by Big Pharma to prevent the importation of safe and effective prescription drugs from Canada,” Governor DeSantis said.“Floridians have been waiting long enough for lower prescription drug prices, and it is unnecessary to keep them waiting. I look forward to the dismissal of the suit and the immediate approval of Florida’s plan by the federal government.”
The Biden administration subsequent to the filing signalled that it will agree to Florida’s efforts.

AG Ashley Moody is fighting for Florida jobs and the nation’s energy independence by challenging President Joe Biden’s unlawful executive order that cancelled construction of the Keystone XL Pipeline. The AG is joining attorneys general from 22 states in an amended complaint in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas to block Biden’s unconstitutional and unlawful attempt to cancel the Keystone Pipeline.
Moody said, “Minutes after taking the oath of office, President Biden signed an unlawful executive order reversing an Act of Congress and eliminating Florida jobs. His order, halting construction of the Keystone Pipeline, is not only a jobs killer, it risks our nation’s energy independence and national security — we all saw last month how quickly losing access to just one pipeline can cause chaos and uncertainty in a large portion of our country.
“I recently met with Congressman Neal Dunn, who has been speaking with Floridians in his district who lost work because of Biden’s reckless order. We must help these Floridians get back to work.”

Nikki Fried finally made official what she has been doing unofficially at taxpayer expense for two-and-a-half years — running for Governor. She’s been wrong on virtually every issue of the past two years, and politicized them for her own personal political enrichment. She faces charlatan Charlie Crist, who has been a member of three parties in the past 10 years in desperate attempts to win an office.
RPOF Executive Director Helen Aguirre Ferre had this to say about Nikki Fried’s announcement:
“Nikki Fried is conspiracy-spouting lockdown zealot who has accomplished absolutely nothing while in office. Instead of working for the people of Florida, Fried spends her time pushing partisan lies on social media. Her claim to fame is wasting tax dollars to plaster her face on gas pumps and cash registers across Florida. Rather than seek a promotion, she should refund her taxpayer-funded salary to atone for the complete waste her tenure in office has been.”
And now we find out that Fried “accidentally” forgot to include $350,480 in her 2018 tax filings. She amended her filing May 28, just days before announcing her run for governor.
